One two-month journey circling Australia was terminated in the wake of the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but broke off from the party for a pause. The vessel left without her and came back after some time after the personnel became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

A large-scale hunt located her remains the next day.

Authorities are looking into the incident, alongside police and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator stated that guests and personnel on the vessel were informed that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "tragic passing and previous engine troubles".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be issued a full refund, and said the organization was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the travelers via private aircraft".

Officials also issued an revised announcement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Master" preventing any further travelers from getting on the vessel.

The official said that they would inspect the vessel in the port city upon its coming back.
